French Facebook & Twitter TV Ban
Those crazy French have come up with another great ban. After pissing off the Muslim world more than Bush did by banning the burqa, the oppressive bureaucratic culture maddening, micro-meddling rules and regulations has now come up with the idea to ban the words ‘Facebook’ and ‘Twitter’ from French tv. So no more: For more information on this breaking story, follow us on Twitter and like us on Facebook. So why the ban? It’s not because the French hate everything American, like Facebook and Twitter are. Although we have yet to see anything innovative for the online world come from those garlic sniffing lunatics. The official reason given by Christine Kelly from France’s Conseil Superieur de l’Audiovisuel (CSA) is “Why give preference to Facebook, which is worth billions of dollars, when there are many other social networks that are struggling for recognition … This would be a distortion of competition … it’s opening a Pandora’s Box”. We think Christine should be rooted up her own box and tell the rest of her Conseil to come up with something better than this. Legal ground here, a 1992 decree. It’s not the first time they have said adieu to some word accepted everywhere else. All this calls for more of this or maybe for a true French tradition, Strike!
